Country sees no Covid death in 24 hours

No death with coronavirus was recorded in the country in 24 hours till Saturday morning. A total of 299 new cases of the virus were detected during this time. The daily test positivity rate stands at 13.60% against the people tested on the day.

Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) confirmed the matter to the media at a press briefing on Saturday.

The new cases raised the country's total caseload to 20 lakh 29 thousand 314. The coronavirus death toll so far is 29 thousand 380.

Among the affected, 243 are from Dhaka, 14 from Mymensingh, 25 from Chattogram, 3 from Rajshahi, 1 from Khulna, 6 from Barishal and 7 are from Sylhet division.

The first case of coronavirus was detected at Wuhan in China in 2019. Soon after, the virus spread worldwide. The first case of the disease was detected on March 8 in 2020 in Bangladesh. The country saw the first Covid-related death on March 18 of the same year.
