Trawler capsizes in Karnaphuli: 4 bodies recovered

At least four bodies were recovered in an incident of trawler capsize in Karnaphuli river Ichhanagar area of Chattogram on Thursday (October 13). The trawler was capsized on the previous day.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sadarghat Naval Police Station Mohammad Ekram Ullah confirmed the matter to the media.

On e of the deceased was identified as dock staff member Rahmat. It was assumed that another is Captain Faruk Bin Abdullah's body. However, identities of other deceased could not be known.

OC Mohammad Ekram Ullah said, "The vessel ‘MV Magferat’ sank in the river in the wee hour of Wednesday after having a clash with buoy. Four bodies have been recovered from the river and sent to Chattogram Medical College Hospital morgue. The relatives of the deceased will identify the bodies there."

Nine out of 16 people were rescued alive in the incident. A three-member investigation committee has been formed and the committee was asked to submit a report within 10 days.
