Country sees one death, 445 Covid cases in 24 hours

One person was killed due to coronavirus in 24 hours till Thursday morning in the country. A total of 445 positive cases were detected during this time.

"Bangladesh reported 8.92 percent Covid-19 positive cases against the samples tested during the last 24 hours," a daily statement of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said on Thursday.

Among the coronavirus patients 329 are from Dhaka, 18 from Mymensingh, 30 from Chattogram, 42 from Rajshahi, two from Rangpur, 13 from Khulna, one from Barisal and 10 patients are from Sylhet.

The official tally showed that the virus infected 20 lakh 31 thousand 451 and killed a total of 29 thousand 389 people so far, the statement added.

The first case of coronavirus was detected at Wuhan in China in 2019. Soon after, the virus spread worldwide. The first case of the disease was detected on March 8 in 2020 in Bangladesh. The country saw the first Covid-related death on March 18 of the same year.
