Elections in 57 Zila Parishads underway

Elections in 57 out of 64 Zila Parishads across the country began today (October 17) at 9 AM. The voting will continue till 2.00 pm.

The voting in this non-partisan election is being held through Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) at 925 booths in 462 centres.

Closed circuit television cameras (CCTVs) have been installed at all the polling centres.

There will be no voting in three districts in the Chittagong Hill Tracts while elections in Chapainawabganj and Noakhali have been suspended due to court orders.

All representatives of Feni and Bhola have been elected uncontested.

As per report from the EC, a total of 27 chairmen have already been elected unopposed in the Zilla Parishad elections. Besides, 69 candidates for general membership and 19 candidates for reserved membership have also been elected unopposed.
