At least three people were killed, and two others injured after a Dhaka launch hit a bridge in Shariatpur’s Gosairhat upazila.
The MV Swarnadwip Plus launch collided with a bridge over the Saikhar canal in Kuchipatti union at around 4am on Sunday (23 October).
The deceased have been identified as Tanjil, Sagar Ali, and Shakil Ahmed.
The police said that water tank fell on the sleeping passengers, leaving three dead on the spot.
"The rescue operation was started soon after the incident. The deceased were taken to the upazila health complex while one of the injured was referred to Dhaka for better treatment," said Kafi Bin Kabir, upazila nirbahi officer of Gosairhat.
