State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid said that around 80 lakh subscribers are out of electricity across the country due to cyclone Sitrang.
He came up with the assertion while talking to the journalists at the secretariat on Tuesday (October 25).
However, Nasrul Hamid said that around 70 percent of them will get electricity by Tuesday afternoon and the rest of the subscribers will come under electricity connectivity within Wednesday.
The State Minister also said, "Sitrang has hit hard the coastal areas. It caused huge damage to the electric poles. There are some 80 lakh subscribers are out of electricity. It didn't hit the transmission but it hit the distribution. Many poles have been broken. The electric wires were also damaged as trees and their branches fell on the wires."
