Chief Election Commissioner Kazi Habibul Awal on Saturday said there was no incident of anomalies in the by-polls of Faridpur-2 constituency. He also termed the election as an ideal one.
The CEC came up with the assertion while talking to the reporters at the CCTV monitoring centre in Nirbachan Bhaban at the noon.
He said, "We have been monitoring the election through CCTV cameras. No irregularities were found so far. The voting was underway in a peaceful manner."
"A total of 1,052 CCTV cameras were set up to monitor the voting situation in 123 polling centers. A large number of law enforcers were deployed in the areas," he added.
CEC Kazi Habibul Awal also said, "We are satisfied with the overall situation of the election. The voting was peaceful."
Faridpur-2 constituency fell vacant after the death of Deputy Leader of the parliament and senior Awami League leader Syeda Sajeda Chowdhury.
Awami League nominated candidate Shahdab Akbar Labu Chowdhury, the youngest son of Sajeda Chowdhury, and Bangladesh Khelafat Movement candidate Md Zainul Abedin alias Bakul Miah Abul are contesting from this constituency.
