Faridpur-2 by-polls: AL candidate elected unofficially

Awami League candidate Shahdab Akbar Labu Chowdhury was elected officially in the by-polls in Faridpur-2 on Saturday (November 5).

The voting in the constituency started at 8:00am and continued till 4:00pm on Saturday.

District Election Officer Habibur Rahman said, " Awami League nominated candidate Shahdab Akbar Labu Chowdhury bagged 68 thousand 812 votes and elected unofficially in the election. His only opponent Bangladesh Khelafat Movement candidate Md Zainul Abedin alias Bakul Miah Abul got 14 thousand 878 votes."

The total number of voters is 3 lakh 18 thousand 472. Some 83 thousand 890 voters cast their votes. The voters' turnaround was 26.27 percent.

Faridpur-2 constituency fell vacant after the death of Deputy Leader of the parliament and senior Awami League leader Syeda Sajeda Chowdhury on September 11.
