Four Bangladeshis win at US midterm polls

Four Bangladeshi-American politicians were elected to the US House of Representatives on November 8 from different states.

The midterm elections were held in the United States on Tuesday (November 8) local time.

The four Bangladeshi candidates who won the elections are Georgia state senators Sheikh Rahman and Nabilah Islam, Connecticut State Senator Md Masudur Rahman and New Hampshire House of Representative Aboul Khan.

Bangladeshi American Sheikh Rahman was elected for the third time unopposed in the state of Georgia. Nabilah Islam won the Georgia State Senate election for the first time. Masudur Rahman also won the Connecticut State Senate polls for the first time. They are all from Biden’s Democratic Party.

Republican candidate Aboul Khan of Bangladeshi origin has been elected for the post of New Hampshire House of Representatives for the fifth time in a row.

The new US Congress will begin in January next year.
