Transport strike in Rajshahi begins

Update : 01 Dec 2022, 14:28

Transport owners and workers in eight districts of Rajshahi division have been observing an indefinite strike, ahead of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party’s next divisional mass rally in the divisional city.

Rajshahi Divisional Transport Owners' Association claimed that the strike has no link with BNP’s rally, as they gave an ultimatum to meet their demands earlier.

No long-route buses have left or entered Rajshahi from the other districts of the country, including capital Dhaka, since this morning.

"The party activists will stay at the rally venue from today and return home after making it a success," said Ruhul Quddus Dulu, organising secretary of the BNP and coordinator of the rally organising committee.

"The transport strike has been called from Thursday so that activists cannot come to the rally. However, this rally will be successful at any cost," he added.
