Chattogram becomes enthusiastic as PM addresses public rally tomorrow

Enthusiastic Chattogram is fully prepared with festivity and fanfare to welcome Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina as she will address a public rally at the Polo Ground here tomorrow (December 3).

On the occasion of the arrival of the premier, Chattogram now turned into a festive city while people from all walks of life as well as leaders and activists of ruling Awami League (AL) became frenzy.

AL leaders here said the arrival of Sheikh Hasina, who is also the President of AL, has created excitement among the leaders and activists not only in Chattogram but also in the entire region.

Briefing the reporters, Chattogram City AL General Secretary AJM Nasir Uddin said Chattogram AL and people of all strata of life are fully ready to receive Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina here.

He said, "The Chattogram city will turn into a human sea tomorrow on the public rally of the prime minister."

The former mayor of Chattogram City Corporation continued that Chattogram AL would show its organisational strength from the rally and is prepared to face any evil force.

Talking about the development works undertaken the government of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, he hoped that Chattogram will turn into a world class developed city, once all the development works are completed, as the premier is scheduled to inaugurate some uplift schemes and lay foundation stone of some others.

AL leaders and activists and its associate bodies are on the final stages of preparation and carrying out miking and campaigning on the public meeting of the premier who attends such rally outside Dhaka following Jashore on November 24 after nearly three years due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Colourful arches and gates have been constructed on various roads of the town with the posters and banners of the prime minister.

Leaders have put up billboards, banners, balloons, festoons and posters welcoming the prime minister and the party chief in city's Jamal Khan, Kazir Dewri, Halishahar, Lalkhan Bazar, Tiger Pass, Dewan Hat, Kadamtali, New Market, Anderkilla and other areas.

Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) has conducted beautification works on different roads ahead of the rally, including cleaning and painting footpaths, decorating flyovers with colourful lights and repairing dilapidated roads in different areas.

AL leaders said the prime minister in the recent party forum meeting expressed her intention to give more time to the party from now on.

The AL chief plans to visit different districts in stages before the 12th National Election. As part of this, the first public meeting was held at Jashore Stadium on November 24.

Through the public rally in Jashore, election campaign of AL Chief Sheikh Hasina across the country began. After the tomorrow's rally, she will address as the chief guest the party rally at the Sheikh Kamal Cricket Stadium in Cox's Bazar on December 7.

In these public meetings, the party president gives new messages to the people as well as AL leaders and activists.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will arrive in Chattogram tomorrow morning on a day-long visit to attend a number of programmes.

During the visit, the prime minister will attend the President Parade-2022 at Bangladesh Military Academy in Bhatiary here.

She will also take salute at the passing out parade at the BMA.

In the afternoon, the Awami League president will address the public rally organized by Chattogram City, Chattogram District North and South AL at Railway Polo Ground.

A 160 feet stage has been built there in the shape of a boat.

Awami League leaders are expecting that about 10 lakh people will join the rally.

Local administration has taken necessary measures on the occasion of the prime minister's visit and the public rally.

The government has drawn up massive development scheme for Chattogram which is now under implementation.

These are Bangabandhu Industrial park at Mirersarai, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Tunnel beneath Karnaphuli river, China Economic Zone, Korean EPZ, four projects in Maheshkhali -- Economic Zone, LNG Terminal, coal based power plant and deep sea port, rail track from Chattogram to Cox's Bazar, up gradation of Chattogram-Cox's Bazar road into four lane, flyover on Lalkhan to airport road, bay terminal at Chattogram port etc.
