The Union Parishad (UP) chairman of Mirjarchar under Raipura upazila of Narsingdi and also local Jubo League leader was shot to death on Saturday (December 3) afternoon.
The deceased was identified as M Jafar Iqbal Manik, 50, resident of Shantipur village of the Upazila.
Locals said that the UP chairman M Jafar Iqbal Manik was shot while he was going to attend an arbitration meeting at 4:00 pm on the day in the area. However, he was rushed to Narsingdi Sadar Hospital where on duty doctors declared him dead.
Officer-in-Charge of Raipura Police Station Azizur Rahman confirmed the matter to the media.
