Coronavirus infection: Ports asked to enhance screening

The deadly Coronavirus has been spreading all over the world again. Some new variants of the virus have been identified recently. Considering the circumstances, Directorate General of Health Services asked the authorities concerned to increase the screening of Covid-19 test at the ports.

Addl. Director General (Administration) Dr. Ahmedul Kabir came up with the instruction on Sunday (December 25).

Moreover, he asked to examine the people with Rapid Antigen Test. He also put emphasis on sending the infected people to isolation.

Dr. Ahmedul Kabir said, "A new variant of Coronavirus, BF7, has been detected. It is a sub variant of B15. It is also known as 18, which means it can be transmitted to 18 persons from one. The variant is four times more powerful than other variants."

He also said, "One of the dangerous side of this variant is -it can infect people within a very short time. The symptom of this variant is quite similar to other variants."

"It can put a hazardous impact to the unvaccinated people. The risk-prone people should get the fourth dose or the second booster dose," he added.

He further said, "The frontline people should be jabbed as soon as possible. Public awareness should be boosted in this connection."
