A cargo vessel, carrying around 11 lakh ton of diesel, sank in the Meghna River in Kathir Matha area of Bhola Sadar on Sunday morning.
All 13 staff members of the vessel were rescued safely by Coast Guard members.
Media Officer of Coast Guard South Zone Bhola, KM Shofiul Kinjol, said, " The cargo, SV Shagor Nandini-2, was carrying some 11 lakh ton of diesel from Chattogram to Dhaka. The accident occurred as the cargo ship hit another anchored ship in the area on Sunday morning due to dense fog."
In-charge of Ilisha River Police Station, M Akter Hossain, said, "River Police and Coast Guard members have been trying to clear the diesel from the area."
