4 Chinese nationals sent to isolation from HSIA

Update : 26 Dec 2022, 22:06

Four passengers, coming from China to Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) in Dhaka, have been sent to isolation suspecting them to be infected with Covid-19 on Monday (December 26).

During the health screening at the HSIA, four Chinese nationals tested positive for Covid-19 when the rapid antigen test was conducted in the afternoon. The medical team of HSIA sent them to isolation at DNCC Hospital in Mohakhali.

As the new variant of the Coronavirus, BF7, is more contagious than the previous ones, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has directed all ports -- land, air, and sea -- of Bangladesh to increase screening on December 25.

Dr Shahriar Sajjad, assistant director of the airport's health department, said, "The faces of the passengers were red. Later, they underwent antigen test and the report came positive."

"They came from China with a negative report after RT-PCR test. Another RT-PCR test would help determine their actual state." he added.
