Five people were killed and five others injured in a road accident as a truck hit a microbus on Dhaka-Sylhet highway in Shahpur area under Madhabpur upazila of Habiganj on early Saturday.
The deceased were identified as Chhadir Ali, 25, son of Yeasin Ali, Atikur Rahman Shihab, 16, son of Nurul Haque, A Salam Mia, 32, son of A Hannan, A Salam's wife Sadia, 22 and their daughter Habiba, 3.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdul Razzaq said, "A Dhaka bound truck hit a microbus in Shahpur area of the district at 3:00am on Saturday, leaving three dead on the spot and leaving several others injured critically. Two others died while they were being taken to the hospital."
On information, police personnel and fire fighters rushed to the spot. The vehicular movement was halted for two hours in the area due to the accident.
