Metro Rail service will be available at the capital's Pallabi station from January 25. MRT line-6 of Pallabi station will be open for all on the day.
Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited's (DMTCL) Managing Director MAN Siddique confirmed the matter to the media on Monday (January 9).
DMTCL Managing Director said, "There will be some changes in the schedule of Metro Rail. Metro Rail will be active from 8:30 morning to 12:00 noon. The schedule change has been made considering the demand of the passengers."
MAN Siddique said, "We have mentioned earlier that new stations will be increased gradually. Not only the stations but also the duration of the operation will be increased. After a deep consideration, we have decided to start Metro Rail from 8:30am."
He also said, "Although some 200 passengers travel by Metro Rail at a time, we are trying to relax the number of passengers. Around 90,000 passengers have travelled in the first 10 days of Metro Rail inauguration. The earning of Metro Rail has so far stood at Taka 88 lac."
Earlier on December 28, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the Metro Rail. It was opened for the public to commute from December 29. At present, the Metro Rails are being run from Uttara North (Diyabari) to Agargaon.
