‘Little Bangladesh Avenue’ nameplate unveiled in NY

Designed by New York City Councilman James Gennaro  ‘Little Bangladesh Avenue’ has been unveiled in New York, USA.

James Gennaro on 21 February spearheaded the street officially.

A section of McDonald Avenue in Brooklyn's Kensington neighborhood will forever be known as Little Bangladesh following an official co-naming ceremony that took place a few days ago.

The intersection of Homelawn Street and Hillside Avenue in New York, US, has been co-named "Little Bangladesh Avenue" to celebrate the Bangladeshi community there and its contributions to the neighborhood.

The community thrives with Bangladeshi cafes and restaurants, which contribute to the neighborhood's culture and livelihood.

For the Bangladeshis in United States, who made this country their home thousands of moons ago, it was a momentous occasion.

It is an wonderful initiative that aims to pay homage to the many contributions of the Bangladeshi community in the New York.

A road in the Bronx has already been named 'Bangla Bazar'.

The bill on 'Little Bangladesh Avenue' was passed in December 2022. Bill number INT 2477-2021 was introduced in the city council by James F. Gennaro, a councilman in the local council district-24.
