Update : 28 Jan 2023, 12:33

A child from Bangladesh who was playing hide and seek with friends got trapped in a shipping container. He traveled a thousand miles for six days and landed in Malaysia.

On January 17, while unloading containers off of a Bangladeshi vessel, staff at Malaysia’s Port Klang saw a  boy step out of one of the containers, reports Malaysian national news agency BERNAMA.

The boy’s name is Fahim and he had been playing hide and seek with friends in his home city of Chittagong. Meanwhile, he chooses a shipping container to hide in and accidentally locks himself in it. He could not speak or even understand the local language, so he could not get any specific information.

A video on you tube also showed a glimpse of the incident, with the boy looking frightened and exhausted.

He also asked for help but no one came to him. He stayed inside the container for 6 days and was transported about 2000 miles. He was rushed to hospital, where he is recovering. Arrangements are also being made to send him back to Bangladesh.

Malaysia has begun proceedings to repatriate Fahim to his home country of Bangladesh.
