Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Khandker Golam Faruq on Sunday (February 19) said there is no fear of militant attack marking the 'Shaheed Dibash' (Martyrs Day) and the International Mother Language Day on February 21.
"Moreover, tight security measures have been taken in the city for the observance of the day. The whole Shaheed Minar area will be monitored by police as the entire area has come under the purview of CCTV."
The DMP Commissioner made the remarks while talking to reporters at the Central Shaheed Minar on Sunday.
He said, "After a pause due to Coronavirus, International Mother Language Day is going to be celebrated openly again. Dhaka University administration is also cooperating with DMP."
"The overall security measures have been divided into three parts for the smooth movement of people in and around Shaheed Minar," he added.
