Three people were killed and several others were injured in a blast in Science Lab area of the city on Sunday.
The deceased were identified as Shafikuzzaman, Abdul Mannan and Tushar.
Sources said that a blast occurred in the area around 10:50 am, leaving three dead and injured several others. The injured were rushed to the nearby hospitals.
Witnesses said that the blast might have been occurred from an electric transmitter fault. However, the exact reason behind the blast could not be known immediately.
On information, four units of fire fighters rushed to place to douse the fire.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Dhanmondi Police Station, Ikram Ali Mia, confirmed the matter to the media.
Duty officer of fire service control room, Khaleda Yeasmin, said, "Four units of fire fighters worked to douse the fire. The fire was doused at 11:13 pm. The reason behind the fire could not be known immediately."
