Shab-e-Barat to be observed tonight

The Shab-e-Barat, a night of forgiveness or day of atonement, would be observed with religious reverence across the coun­try on Tuesday night.

On this particular night, the majority of faithful would seek forgiveness from the Allah Almighty and the people whose rights were usurped consciously or unconsciously.

Muslims consider Shab-e-Barat as one of the three most sacred nights and believe that on this night Almighty Allah decides the fate of all human beings fixing their ‘rizq’ (livelihood) for the next year.

Shab-e-Barat, the night between day 14 and 15 of Sha’ban, considered as the night of fortune, repentance and divine blessings for the Muslims.

President Md Abdul Hamid and prime minister Sheikh Hasina on Monday greeted all Muslims of the country and elsewhere across the world on the occasion of Shab-e-Barat.

On the night, the devotees across the country would visit graves and pray for their beloved ones seeking their eternal peace. Many people will also visit shrines all over the country.

On this occasion, Islamic Foundation has chalked out programmes at the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque in Dhaka.

The Islamic Foundation will hold religious sermons and dua-mahfils at the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque today.

Besides, religious sermons highlighting the significance of Shab-e-Barat will be delivered at various mosques after Maghrib prayers alongside holding while special munajat after Esha prayers tonight in the country.

The day after Wednesday will be a public holiday on the occasion of Shab-e-Barat.
