Train, bus collide in city

Three people were injured as a train collided with a passenger bus in the city’s Malibagh Rail Gate area on Wednesday night.

The rail connection across the country was halted temporarily due to the accident.

Duty Officer of the Fire Service control room, Rasel Faruk, told Ittefaq online that a train hit a passenger bus of Shohag Paribahan in the area at 9:02 pm. The rail connection was stopped due to the accident.

Transport Officer of Bangladesh Railway (Dhaka) Khayrul Kabir told the media that a Panchagar-bound train collided with the bus in Malibagh level crossing, leaving three people injured.

The owner of Shohag Paribahan, Faruk Talukder Sohel, told the media that the gate of the crossing was not closed while the accident took place. The bus almost crossed the rail crossing when the train hit the tail of the bus. There was no passenger in the bus on that time. Moreover, the speed of the train was slow.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Hatirjheel Police Station said a passenger bus of Shohag Paribahan was hit by a train in the area. On information, police personnel rushed to the spot.
