Agitated crowd set fire to two passenger buses of Ali Noor Paribahan after a motorcyclist got stuck between the two buses and crushed to death on Tongi-Ashulia-Zerabo-EPZ Road in Ashulia, Savar, on Sunday morning.
The deceased was identified as Mehedi Hasan, 32. He is an electrician and lived in Ghoshbag in Ashulia with his family.
The accident took place at Jirabo area of Abdullahpur-Bypail road in Ashulia around 8:30am on April 2.
According to Ashulia Police Station Sub-Inspector Masood Al Mamun, "Mehedi died on the spot after he was caught between two buses under the banner of Ali Noor when they were engaged in a “race” to overtake one another on their way to Abdullahpur."
Angered by the accident, angry mob torched the two buses.
Police and the Fire Service and Civil Defence staff reached the scene and brought the situation under control.
