Prothom Alo journalist Shamsuzzaman Shams's lawyer filed a petition with Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court again seeking bail in a case filed under Digital Security Act (DSA).
On April 2, Prothom Alo editor and publisher Matiur Rahman, who has been made main accused in the same case, granted six weeks' anticipatory bail by the High Court. Following that, Advocate Prashanta Kumar Karmakar, a counsel for Matiur Rahman, sought bail for Shamsuzzaman today.
The hearing is scheduled to be held at noon.
Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Tofazzel Hossain sent Shamsuzzaman, Savar Correspondent of the Daily Prothom Alo, to jail on March 30 in the DSA case rejecting his bail plea.
