London’s New Year’s Eve celebration event in Trafalgar Square will not take place due to the surge in cases of the Omicron variant.
The city’s mayor, Sadiq Khan announced on Monday night a party for 6,500 people in the part-pedestrianised square was being cancelled “in the interests of public safety”.
