First hajj flight leaves Dhaka

Biman Bangladesh Airlines' first Hajj flight of this year left Dhaka for Jeddah with a total of 415 passengers onboard today.

It took off from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 3:20 am (Bangladesh time) on Sunday and was scheduled to land in Jeddah at 7:20 am (local time).

Four more hajj flights of Biman Bangladesh Airlines will depart from Dhaka for Jeddah throughout the day.

Earlier, the State Minister of Civil Aviation and Tourism inaugurated the flight at the concourse hall of Terminal-2 of the airport at 12:30 pm. Mahbub Ali and Minister of State for Religion Faridul Haque Khan.

According to Biman Bangladesh Airlines sources, dedicated Hajj flight BG-3001 of the national flag carrier Biman Bangladesh Airlines' left Dhaka for Saudi Arabia with 415 pilgrims in the first phase.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated this year's hajj program at Ashkona, Dhaka on Friday.

A total of 1,22,221 pilgrims from Bangladesh will go to Saudi Arabia this year.
