Japan provides grant aid for the fourth primary education development programme

The Japan government has provided total JPY 2 billion (about USD 15 million) for Fourth Primary Education Development Programme (PEDP4) of the country.

On Tuesday, June 20, Mr. IWAMA Kiminori, Ambassador of Japan to Bangladesh and Ms. Sharifa Khan, Secretary, Economic Relations Division, Ministry of Finance signed the Exchange of Notes on the Japanese Grant aid (JPY 500 million, about USD 4 million) titled “Fourth Primary Education Development Programme (PEDP4).

Based on this agreement between the two counties, Mr. ICHIGUCHI Tomohide, Chief Representative of JICA Bangladesh Office and Ms. Sharifa Khan signed a relevant Grant Agreement.

On the occasion, the Ambassador IWAMA said, "In order for Bangladesh to achieve thefurther ambition to become a developed country in 2041, it is important not only to achieve economic growth but also to improve the quality of education accelerating Bangladesh’s inclusive growth. Education, which develops human resources, is essential for Bangladesh's future sustainable development. I would like to emphasize that PEDP4 has been playing and will play a vital role.We will continue to support every level of education in this country.”
