11 injured in another exlposion at Sagar Nandini 2

Eleven people including 9 policemen were injured in another explosion at oil tanker Sagar Nandini-2 at 7 pm on Monday after the body recovery operation in Sugandha river adjacent to Padma-Meghna petroleum depot in Jhalkathi.

When the fire erupted around 7 in the evening with a loud noise, the police and naval police who were in the Sagar Nandini-3 jumped into the river, reports BSS.

The local trawler driver and police rescued them and sent them to the hospital.

Those who admitted to the hospital were Constable Palash (25), ASI Ganesh (42), SI Hakim (50), Constable Mehdi (27), Constable Shaukat (23), Dip (24) Naval Police ATSI Helal Uddin (55), Nayek Siddique (45), SI Mustafa (43), laborer Halim Howladar (50), cook Qayyum (32) of ship Nandini 4.

Civil surgeon of Jhalkathi  Dr Zahirul Islam said that the injured were sent to Barisal Shebachim Hospital with severe burns. Injured worker Halim Howladar's condition is critical and he will also be sent to Barisal.

On Saturday, four people were killed and four others were injured in another blast at the vessel.
