Three compartments were burnt as miscreants set fire to a commuter train standing at Gharinda Railway Station, Tangail in the early hours of Thursday.
The incident took place around 2:53am today, on the last day of the 48-hour blockade enforced by BNP.
According to station sources, there are CCTV cameras at Gharinda railway station, the compartments engulfed in flames were outside the surveillance range,.
Gharinda Station Master Tariqul Islam said it could not be ascertained who set fire to the train. He said, two compartments of the commuter train were completely burnt while another was damaged partially.
Later, members of the Fire Services and Civil Defence reached to the spot and doused the fire under control.
