Last month a Pakistani court declined bail to detained former Prime Minister Imran Khan in a case in which he has been indicted on charges of leaking state secrets. Still the chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in Adiala Jail and recently was denied permission to communicate with his sons.
Last Friday on X PTI posted that, ''Chairman Imran Khan had asked the Judge and jail suprindenent to allow him to speak to his son Sulaiman today because it was his birthday..His request was instead denied.''
PTI added that, It’s unbelievable how the basic right, as per even jail manual, is being denied to Imran Khan. Lawless Pakistan! And lastday on behalf of Imran khan family posted,
last day from Iman khan official page on Facebook posted a photo. The caption was, ''Wishing Sulaiman Khan a very happy and blessed birthday. It is unfortunate that Chairman Imran Khan was denied the right to speak to his son on his special occasion.''
Khan has been at the centre of months of political turmoil in nuclear-armed Pakistan that has shone a spotlight on the powerful military's influence over civilian politics. Khan was forced from office in 2022 after losing a no-confidence vote in parliament.
