Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge turns 40 today (January 9). Kensington Palace released three new photos of Kate Middleton to celebrate her milestone birthday on Saturday.
All three portraits showcase the British label Alexander McQueen. The portraits will be displayed in Berkshire, St Andrews, and Anglesey, all places where the royal has lived. In 2023, they will enter the National Portrait Gallery's permanent collection.
The portraits were captured last November at London's Kew Gardens by Italian fashion photographer Paolo Roversi, and see the Duchess of Cambridge captured in three very different poses and dresses.
The Duchess wears a bold red satin dress with one voluminous sleeve with a pair of diamond earrings from Queen Elizabeth's collection.
The other two images were released in black and white. The black and white photos contain a touching tribute to Princess Diana.
The second is a much more personal image of Kate — a close-up of her. Kate smiles brightly at the camera, wearing a different white gown, with a gorgeous frilled shoulder sleeve. Kate Middleton took a break from her signature bouncy blowout in favor but she swept up her refined curls.
In one, Kate is wearing a chiffon gown, off-the-shoulder gown with bows, and in the other, she appears to wear a one-shoulder ruffled top or dress. She accessorized the look with diamond and pearl drop earrings and her iconic sapphire engagement ring. Both were owned by the Princess Diana.
Taken in November 2021, the pictures will become part of the National Portrait Gallery's permanent collection. One of the images was posted to Kate and William's official Instagram account, and fans have rushed to the comments to share their love for the photo.
She will celebrate birthday privately with her family as surge in COVID-19 cases across the U.K.
