The country recorded 1,491 Covid-19 infections today, while the coronavirus claimed three deaths overnight.
"The country reported 6.78 percent Covid-19 positive cases as 21,980 samples were tested in the past 24 hours," said Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said in its routine daily statement.
It's a 33.6 percent increase from Saturday and the most instances in a single day since September 21, 2021, or 15 weeks.
Dhaka had the most cases, with 1,254 infections, out of the eight divisions.
In the last 24 hours, the cumulative figure of coronavirus in Dhaka city and surrounding areas has increased.
There are 1,254 upazilas in the district, and two Covid-19 deaths have been documented during the time frame.
The official tally showed that the virus killed 28,102 people and infected 15,93,700 so far, the statement added. The recovery count rose to 15,50,905 after another 217 patients were discharged from the hospitals during the past one day.
According to DGHS figures, 97.31 percent of Covid-19 patients recovered among infected people from the start of the epidemic, while 1.76 percent died.
