2 killed inside Bangladesh border from Myanmar mortar shelling

Two people were killed on Monday afternoon as heavy mortar shells reportedly fired from Myanmar landed and exploded in the Jalpaitali area of Ghundhum Union under Naikhyangchhari upazila of Bandarban.

Around 2:20pm the explosion occurred when a shell hit an under-construction house located in Jolpaichari village. 

The deceased were identified as Hosne Ara Begum, a middle-aged shopkeeper from Ghundhum Union, and an elderly Rohingya man who had been residing in the area for a long time.

Ghumdum union parishad Chairman AKM Jahangir Aziz confirmed the death reports. He said  the  Rohingya man died on the spot, and Hosneara Begum breathed her last while she was being taken to the hospital.
