One hundred and six members of Myanmar's Border Guard Police (BGP) have crossed the border at Tumbru and taken shelter in Bangladesh, said Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB).
BGB's Public Relations Officer Md Shariful Islam confirmed this at evening. He stated they have been disarmed and kept at a safe place in Naikhhongchhari upazila of Bandarban.
Dhaka, meanwhile, expressed concerns as the skirmishes in its borders with Myanmar was affecting Bangladesh frontlines with Road Transport Minister and Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader seeking Chinese intervention to deescalate the conflict in view of Beijing's close contacts with Burmese authorities.
