Do you know yourself?

Update : 19 Jan 2022, 15:37

Efforts have been made since human civilization; gradually the door of epistemology has been opened. The James Webb Telescope was recently launched by astronauts from Europe and North America, and will reach Lagrangian point on January 23-24. Five months later, the telescope will begin communicating with scientists around the world via a high-frequency radio transmitter. Scientists say that James Webb Telescope could also show images of the beginning of the creation of the universe!

This monstrous complex telescope will be engaged in the search for life outside the Earth, the formation of planets and stars. On the other hand, new successes are also coming in medical science. Transplants of various parts of the human body, even surgeons have successfully transplanted a genetically-modified animal heart into human.

No matter how brave people are, they have to think about how successful they are in knowing themselves. Who am I? What is the word we say to liberate the soul? It remains unknown and elusive. In the pride of the advancement of science, one country is firing missiles to another country. In Africa where a child does not have a loaf of bread, who is lifting the most expensive AK-47 rifle in the hands of that child instead of food? Conflict is going  between people and countries just like in prehistoric times.

Religions, on the one hand, have given guidance on human duties, values, and devotion. Even the great sages of the world have given advice. Those advices, directions are going in vain and we ourselves are not following those. The Holy Qur’an says about this, "How is it that you enjoin others to follow the right way, but forget it yourselves, though you read the Scriptures? Have you no sense at all?" (Surat al-Baqara, verse 44)

It is also written in Holy Qur'an, "O you who have believed, upon you is [responsibility for] yourselves. Those who have gone astray will not harm you when you have been guided. To Allah is you return all together; then He will inform you of what you used to do." ( Surah Maidah, verse 105)

Knowing yourself is not an easy task. That is why the world-famous scholar and poet Johann Wolfgang von Goethesaid, “Know thyself? If I knew myself, I'd run away.” Whatever Goethe says, he certainly would not deny that the search for knowledge is the main source of knowledge!
