3 killed as train plunges into autorickshaw in Nilphamari

Three people were killed and six others injured when a Barindra Express train hit them at Darwani Rail Crossing in Nilphamari on Wednesday morning.

The deceased were all Uttara EPZ employees. The names and details about them could not be immediately known. 

"Few workers of Uttara EPZ were going to work in an autorickshaw in the morning. While it were crossing the Darwani rail crossing at around 7:30 am, the Rajshahi-bound Barindra Express train from Nilphamari hit the autorickshaw. One person died at the scene while two others died on the way to hospital," said Amir Ali, deputy assistant director of the fire service.

"Six additional persons were hurt as a result of the incident. They've been taken to the nearest hospital. Two of them have been sent to Rangpur Medical College as their condition is critical," he added.
