Heatwave alert extended for another two days

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has extended the heatwave alert in four divisions including a part of Dhaka division for the next 48 hours starting from Tuesday. 

"The prevailing heatwave over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Khulna divisions and the western part of Dhaka division likely to continue for next 48 hours commencing from Tuesday," said a release issued in the evening. 

Due to the increase in moisture incursion, the discomfort may increase. Meanwhile, the year's highest temperature of 43.8°C was recorded in the southwestern district of Jessore in the afternoon.

Chuadanga recorded Tuesday’s temperature at 43.7°C, the highest in 36 years in the district.
