Police arrested 10 individuals on Saturday night for attempting to hold an unauthorized rally near Zero Point in Dhaka’s Gulistan area, where the Awami League was hosting an event.
The detainees were found with placards featuring images of U.S. President Donald Trump.
Muhammad Talebur Rahman, Deputy Commissioner of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Media and Public Relations Division, confirmed the matter to the media, though the identities of those arrested were not disclosed.
DMP sources reported that items recovered included images of Trump, Bangladesh’s founding leader Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, and placards referring to Noor Hossain, a protester killed in the anti-Ershad movement.
Authorities also seized numerous provocative posters, placards, and cash.
