School admission applications open today: How to apply

Update : 12 Nov 2024, 10:55

Applications for admission to government and private schools from grades 1 to 9 starts from today. Starting at 11:00 AM, students can apply online.

The application process will remain operational until 5:00pm on November 30. After applications are submitted, students will be selected and admitted through a digital lottery process.

The application fee this year is set at BDT 110 and must be paid through the government mobile service provider, Teletalk.

Following the digital lottery, the admission process will begin on December 17 and will continue until December 21. Admission from the first waiting list will run from December 22 to December 24, while the second waiting list admission period will be from December 26 to December 30.

How to Apply

To apply, visit the link https://gsa.teletalk.com.bd/. Separate applications can be made for government and private schools. During the application, students will see lists of schools by police precincts for government schools and by metropolitan or district headquarters for private schools.

School Choice Preferences

For government secondary school applications, a student may select up to five schools. However, if both shifts are chosen in a double-shift school, this will count as two choices. To increase transparency, the final choice must be confirmed in the system from among the schools selected by the student.

Age Requirement

In line with the National Education Policy-2010 and the admission policies for government and private secondary schools, a student must be over six years old to apply for grade 1 admission for the 2025 academic year.

The minimum age on January 1 of the academic year should be five years, and the maximum age on December 31 should be seven years. For example, in 2025, a student whose birth date is between December 31, 2017, and January 1, 2020, can apply for grade 1 admission.

Reserved Quotas, Child and Twin Sibling Admissions

  • Catchment Area Quota: For students within the catchment areas near government schools in Dhaka, 40% of seats are reserved. The Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) will specify the catchment areas for all government schools in Dhaka.
  • Freedom Fighter Quota: Previously, 5% of seats were reserved for children or grandchildren of freedom fighters or martyred freedom fighters. The new rule reserves 5% for only the children of freedom fighters or martyred freedom fighters. If these seats remain unfilled, they will be filled from the merit list.
  • Quota for Government Primary School Graduates: For grade 6 admissions, 10% of total seats are reserved for students graduating from government primary schools.
  • Quota for Students with Special Needs: To support the inclusion of students with special needs, a 2% quota will be reserved, provided they meet minimum qualifications. Any unfilled seats will be allocated to the waiting list.
  • Quota for Children of Education Department Employees: A 2% quota is reserved in metropolitan, divisional, and district headquarters schools for children of officials and staff working in the education sector, provided they meet minimum qualifications. If there are more applicants than seats, a lottery will be held.
  • Quota for Siblings and Twins: If an applicant has a sibling or twin already studying in a school, 3% of seats will be reserved for them. This benefit is limited to a maximum of two children per family.
