A record sum of Taka 82,134,304 BDT was collected from the donation boxes of the historic Pagla Mosque in Kishoreganj.
Along with the cash, gold, silver, and various foreign currencies were also discovered. The counting concluded on Saturday evening, following the opening of the mosque’s nine donation boxes and two trunks earlier that morning.
The counting process involved extensive supervision by officials, including Kishoreganj's Deputy Commissioner (DC) and Pagla Mosque Management Committee President Fauzia Khan, Superintendent of Police Mohammad Hasan Chowdhury, and other committee members.
The counting team included over 400 participants, such as additional district officials, bank staff, madrasa students, mosque committee members, and law enforcement personnel. The operation was further secured by 9 administrative officials, 10 military personnel, 16 police officers, and 9 Ansar members.
The mosque's donation boxes are typically opened every three months. This time, they were opened after three months and 14 days. In the previous collection on August 17, 2024, a total of 72.2 million BDT was gathered along with gold, silver, and foreign currencies.
