Detectives have arrested retired Major Md Mozzaffar Hossain, a fugitive convict in former President Ziaur Rahman assassination case, after nearly 45 years on the run.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Additional Commissioner and Chief of the Detective Branch (DB) Md Shafiqul Islam confirmed the arrest on Thursday afternoon.
However, he did not disclose further details about the arrest.
Mozzaffar Hossain remained absconding since the killing of President Ziaur Rahman in 1981, according to police sources.
