Three members of a family died as a speeding covered van crushed their private car in Bausia Union area on Dhaka-Chattogram highway of Gazaria Upazilla on early Saturday.
The deceased were identified as - Alamgir, 55, his son Jahir, 30, and Rahela Begum, 50, hailing from Chandpur.
Two others were also injured in the accident occurred around 2:15 pm on Friday and they were taken to the Upazila Health Complex by police and locals.
Officer-in-charge of Gazaria police station Rajib Khan said, "The private car was recovered from the spot. Police is investigating the incident and looking for the covered van."
Necessary legal action is underway, he added.
