Ahead of the holy Hajj, Saudi Arabia has taken special measures to enhance security and avoid overcrowding. The Kingdom has temporarily suspended Umrah, business, and family visas for citizens of 13 countries including Bangladesh and Pakistan during the Hajj season.
According to sources, the suspension applies specifically to Umrah, business, and family visas. This visa restriction is expected to be lifted around mid-June, reports Geo News.
Diplomatic sources have stated that Umrah visa holders can enter Saudi Arabia only until April 13. The list of affected countries includes Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Iraq, Nigeria, Jordan, Algeria, Sudan, Ethiopia, Tunisia, and Yemen. Sources further added that despite the temporary ban, individuals who violate the rule may face a five-year ban from re-entering or staying in Saudi Arabia.
Diplomatic sources confirmed that the Saudi government has officially informed Pakistan of this decision. Pakistani Umrah visa holders have also been advised to return home by April 29.
Authorities stated that some travelers enter on long-term visas and perform Hajj without permission, while others overstay illegally.
This unauthorized influx during Hajj causes severe overcrowding, prompting the Saudi government to enforce this restriction.
