Nadia Samdani awarded with Order of Arts and Letters by French Ministry of Culture

British-Bangladeshi philanthropist Nadia Samdani has been awarded with the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres (Order of Arts and Letters) by the French Ministry of Culture. 

The award was handed over to Nadia Samdani by French Ambassador Marie Masdupuy on behalf of the French Government during a ceremony on March 15, which will take place at Residence of France in Gulshan.

The order is awarded as a form of recognition for an individuals contributions to art, literature and related fields. 

Nadia, co-founder of the not-for-profit Samdani Art Foundation. She also co-founded the Dhaka Art Summit, the highest visited art summit in the world, which welcomed 477,000 visitors in 2020. 

Nadia Samdani is a member of Tate's South Asia Acquisitions Committee, Tate's International Council, Alserkal Avenue's Programming Committee and the Delfina Foundation's International Council, and is one of the founding members of The Harvard University Lakshmi Mittal South Asia Institute's Arts Advisory Council. In 2017, with her husband Rajeeb, she was the first South Asian arts patron to receive the prestigious Montblanc de la Culture Arts Patronage Award.

She was appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the 2022 Birthday Honours for services to global art philanthropy and supporting the arts in South Asia and the United Kingdom.
