Ferry services on Paturia-Daulatdia route resume after 10 hours

Ferry services on Paturia-Daulatdia route was resumed after almost four hours at about 10:00am on Thursday.

Mohiuddin Rasel, the Assistant Manager of Commerce, BIWTC, Aricha Sector, said that the fog in the Ghat area continued to increase after Wednesday evening. Later, when the fog increased in the Padma river, all types of vessels including ferries were stopped at around 12 pm to avoid accidents. The ferry service resumed at 9 am on Thursday when the fog mitigated.

The ghat authorities suspended movement of the vehicles on the ferry route due to poor visibility. Several hundred vehicles also got stuck on both sides of the river due to the suspension of the ferry services.

Md Khorshed Alam, assistant manager of the BIWTC's Daulatdia ghat, said the ferry services resumed at 10am as the fog began to disappear. Currently, 16 ferries are operating on the Paturia-Daulatdia route.
