Five members of a family were killed and thre others injured after being hit by a pickup van on Tuesday(February 8).
"The incident took at Malumghat region of Chakaria Upazila around 9:00 am in Cox's Bazar. When they were trying to cross the road, a pickup van towards Cox's Bazar run them over, leaving them seriously injured", said Shafayet Hossain, in-charge of the Malumghat Highway police outpost..
"The father of deceased died only ten days ago. The accident occurred when they were returning after cremation of their father," he added.
The deceased have been identified as five brothers -Anupam Chandra Shil, Nirupam Chandra Shil, Dipok Chandra Shil, Raktim Shil and Champak Chandra Shil.
The locals rushed the injured to the hospital where the doctors declared five of them dead. The other three injured are Sharan Shil, Plabon and Hira Shil. They admitted in Chittagong medical Hospital.
The pickup van didn't identified yet.
