On July 23, a solo exhibition of renowned artist Mostafizul Haque opened at the Gallery Chitrak at Dhanmondi in the capital to commemorate 50-years of his artistic journey.

Renowned artist Rafiqun Nabi chaired the inaugural ceremony. Education minister Dipu Moni was present as chief guest while dean of fine arts faculty of Dhaka University Nisar Hossain was present as special guest at the programme.

The title of the retrospective exhibition "Phire Dekha" presents more than 50 artworks that he created between 1973 and 2022 in the exhibition. Sumon Wahid curated the exhbition.

‘In my 50-year artistic journey, I have used pencil, watercolour, oil paint, acrylic, charcoal and nihonga style to create artworks. Although I have worked on many subject matters, galloping horses and strong roosters are recurring themes in my paintings,’ said Mostafizul Haque.

The eye-catcher is  Sprint IV. This acrylic artwork created in 2013, portrays the backside view of a large white horse on a background. They are incredibly deep and intense, and immediately absorb the viewer into the work.

His works are created with confidence using his own unique expression to unveil an aesthetic nature and mutual understanding of human souls as well as different types of human behavior.

Mostafiz's artworks are carefully constructed. His artworks feature different animals and birds, namely crows, buffalos and others and thus seeks to achieve the right choreography of form, color and object.

The exhibition will continue till JUne 6.
