Secrets to beautiful skin during Ramadan

During the holy month of Radaman, our routine, diet, and food consumption change and this sudden change in your dietary habits, combined with a long period of daily fasting, can have a bad effect on your skin.

With sufficient rest, hydration, proper food and great skincare routine, you can never stray from the path towards beautiful glowing skin in the month of Ramadan. For perfect and healthy skin you should consider using all-natural beauty products even better, DIY beauty products if you use the right products and follow a healthy diet your skin will thank you.

A proper skincare regime is essential to avoid breakouts, dry patches, dull-looking skin, and all symptoms of the dehydration associated with fasting.

Hydrate yourself

Break your fast with a warm glass of water with manuka honey and freshly squeezed lemon juice, or with a spoonful of apple cider vinegar, which cleanses the insides by instantly triggering the metabolism. This can be followed with a bowl of soup, fresh vegetables, and salads with olive oil and lemon dressing. By aiding the liver, the vinaigrette will help generate brighter and clearer skin. The best advice to ensure regular hydration is to drink at least 8 glasses of water a day.

Your fluid intake directly affects both the pH and the hydration of the epidermis, so it is important to make sure that during non-fasting hours we’re drinking as much water as possible. Morning and night, your routine should begin with washing the skin. Cleanse your face of any dead cells, dirt, and impurities by using either a muslin cloth or flannel in circular movements. Those with oily skin should stay clear of mineral-based formulas. An exfoliate can be used once or twice a week to help reveal fresh skin cells and remove the harder-to-budge pollutants. It’s important when exfoliating not to scrub and strip the dermis, even if you suffer from breakouts and oily skin. Doing so will remove your skin’s protective layer and expose the face to environmental toxins and sun damage. Serums should be applied morning and evening, after exfoliation but before moisturizing.

Sufficient sleep is one of the secrets to achieving radiant skin. While you were snoring, the blood flows to your skin and the rest of the body, giving it that healthy glow. The recommended number of hours for a good sleep is 7 to 8 hours a night.

Have a balanced diet

Heavy eating at sunset and before sunrise, and missing out on nutritious food groups due to the limited time on eating may have a negative effect on your skin. Working towards achieving beautiful skin calls for foods that are high in vitamins and minerals that benefit the body, such as fruits, vegetables, fish, and even nuts. Cashews and almonds help restore the skin’s health as they are rich in fatty acids and fibre. Refrain from consuming too much junk or oily food and sugars, as they do not have beneficial properties and will only cause your skin to look duller, even result in breakouts!

Consuming dates, which are good sources of glucose, and other types of foods rich in water content can also keep your body hydrated. Some examples are watermelons, tomatoes, and cucumbers. These foods can easily be blended into a smoothie or made into a delicious salad.

Try to avoid salty foods because they tend to dehydrate the body. Foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids, like salmon, tuna and flaxseed oil, help retain skin’s moisture. Load up on foods that contain silica which can be found in water-rich vegetables, like cucumbers and bananas because they help improve skin hydration.

Beverages that are carbonated, sugary, or caffeinated do not do your skin justice as it only results in dehydration, whereas plain water help removes toxins from the body. Yoghurt is very beneficial for your skin health and a great probiotic. It is also rich in protein so it will keep you full.
