Essential fashion tips for grooms

Update : 21 Dec 2021, 13:44

Wedding fashion is mainly associated with wedding dresses. With so much emphasis on bridal attire, it’s understandable that the groom’s style choices come secondary. However, there has never been a more fascinating or better moment to experiment with a groom style.

When it comes to fashion, we can observe how the dynamics change on a daily basis.  Now-a-days grooms are experimenting with uncommon colors and textures. Grooms are expressing an interest in wedding attire in the same way that brides are.

Groom`s attire

Finding the proper groom's outfit is vital, but it can also be a challenging undertaking. If the guy wears a dull and ill-fitting suit or sherwani in photos with a gorgeously dressed bride, it's all for naught.

Of course, any wedding attire is a personal decision. Still, we've compiled a list of pointers for those guys who will be groomed in the near future.

Get your outfit tailored

Be sure to pay your tailor a visit so that he can customize the best and most flattering fit for your build. Or, if you can afford to spend a little more, and if you’re planning to buy a sherwani or suit that you will wear well beyond your wedding day, you may also want to consider opting for made-to-measure, or even bespoke, as either option will lend you a good fit and comfort.

Inject personality into your accessories
An easy way to inject your ensemble with personality, and distinguish yourself from others. Show personality with fun cuff links or socks. Consider your pocket squares, watch, and even your shoes as opportunities to get creative. If you like eye-catching footwear a pair of socks or shoelaces that either reestablishes the theme or highlights who you are.

Choose right accessories

Mix classic and modern

You may find that certain elements of traditional groom attire are your preference, while certain modern details are also appealing to you too. Don’t feel like you have to skew 100% toward one or the other. It’s your wedding day, and your outfit, so mix things up as you see fit. If you are drawn to the look of a suit and black bow tie, but like the idea of incorporating your wedding color, do so by choosing a colorful suit or a bold pair of socks. If you like the look of a vest and bow tie but want to give it a modern flair, try achieving the silhouette with unorthodox patterns and colors, like gingham and stripes.

Play up the season

If you’re at a loss for how to customize your look, one of the easiest ways is to look to the season. If your wedding is taking place in the fall or winter, get playful with textures and rich colors. A tweed suit, knit tie, or heavily embroidered sherwani could serve as great cold weather pieces. If you’re getting hitched in the spring, look into pastels and a suit that’s good for all seasons, like cotton or a cotton blend. If summer is the season for you, consider white or off white sherwani and breathable fabrics.

Length of sleeves, trousers and sherwani

The shirt needs to be cuffed at the wrist and the jacket needs to show off the cuff just a little bit. Whereas the wrist is slightly more visible in a Sherwani to allow movement. The trousers shouldn’t start bunching up in folds but also cannot be short to reveal the ankles too much. The churidar or the pyjamas can be fitted or loose depending on the silhouette you are vying for.

Blazer up

Make your look perfect

Choose an attractive plain kurta and add a printed or embroidered blazer to dress it up. Experiment with different styles and show off your individuality. Choose a color scheme that includes thread work embroideries. The grooms and groomsmen will be given a stunning makeover that will make their big day even more memorable.

Comfortable and casual dress

Comfortable clothes have become a wardrobe necessity for people all over the world, thanks to the rise of the loungewear trend. For their wedding functions, grooms are choosing more relaxed and casual styles.

Look at your shoes

Invest in a quality pair of shoes to complete the look. A good pair of nagra adorned with intricate details expresses your inner royalty. Some grooms like to add a twist to their outfit by wearing a casual pair of sneakers, but make sure that's appropriate for the venue if you choose to go that route.
